Summer Camp!!    July 12 – 18
Before you read any further, I’d like you to remember 3 things:
1.)  Summer Camp is the best event of the Scouting year and everyone should go!
2.)  Summer Camp is the perfect opportunity for Scouts to have a lot of fun, make lasting friendships, and learn the skills to advance in rank (first year Scouts can almost make it to First Class with what they do at camp, while older Scouts can earn several merit badges on their journey toward Eagle Scout)
3.)  No one should think about not going to camp because of the cost!   There are confidential scholarships available.   Please speak with Mindy Cutcher, Treasurer, or the Scoutmaster.
As noted on the calendar, this year, the Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC) decided to go to…
Resica Falls Scout Reservation!
Resica Falls is situated in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, and is 4,200+ acres set in an endless track of mountain trails, clear streams, and waterfalls – and has an amazing program of activities for Scouts to enjoy during their summer camp experience.   This outdoor paradise is the home to hundreds of different trees, plants, and animals – and to over 3,000 Scouts each summer!
More on overall camp facilities: Resica Falls boasts a pool and shower house facility built in 2006 with a three story water slide!   Additional recent improvements have included the construction of a new boat house at Lake Roger (2004), new office facilities (Unami Lodge – 2006), a renovated Trading Post (2011), a new Rifle Range & Shotgun Range (2008 & 2011), a new Archery Range (2009), a Dining Hall Expansion (2010) and improved Handicapped Campsite Facilities (2011).   In 2012, the Richards Arena was constructed, which is a campfire amphitheater that seats 900 people and is state-of-the-art in lights and sound – an ideal home to campfires and award ceremonies.   In 2014, a Clock Tower and central meeting place was constructed on the Parade Field, as well as two new campsites behind the Trading Post.  New for this summer are: a shower house facility in the Great Bend, a beach volleyball court, a human foosball court and a half-court basketball court!
The program is top-notch.    They offer 67 merit badges spread throughout the camp in the areas of aquatics, scoutcraft, ecology, and shooting sports, as well as handicraft, sports, and media & technology.   Beyond badges, the camp boasts an extensive COPE ropes course (zip lines, etc.), lunch club programs, and an afternoon High Adventure Club.   Every evening, there are things happening in camp; from night swims to scavenger hunts, campfires to religious services, there is always something to do during the week.   Wednesday afternoons are home to expansive campwide game competitions, that challenge patrols in skills and to have fun.   Resica’s theme this summer is Wild Wild West!
