Boy Scout Troop 3 of Ambler has Much to Celebrate

On Sunday, May 15 Boy Scout Troop 3 of Ambler celebrated its 100th anniversary at Sandy Run Country Club in Oreland, PA.  It was an afternoon full of memories and honors. Kate Harper citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania House of Representatives that was sponsored by Kate Harper (and Mary Jo Daley and Todd Stephens in absentia) presented Scoutmaster Harry Heckler with a citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Senator Stewart Greenleaf was also in attendance and presented the troop with an official congratulations from the Senate of Pennsylvania. Commemorative letters from past Presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and President Barack Obama were on display along with historic Troop 3 items. Keynote speaker and Eagle Scout Beasley Reece, Sports Director of CBS 3, inspired the audience by sharing his Scouting experience.


One of the highlights of the afternoon was the presentation of the Boy Scouts of America Medal of Merit to Andrew Piszek of Ambler. Andrew, a Star Scout and a 9th grader at Germantown Academy saved his father’s life on by performing CPR he learned during Boy Scout First Aid and CPR training.


Troop 3 will be hosting a Car Wash/Flag Retirement from 10:00a-2:00p on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 708 S Bethlehem Pike in Ambler. Bring old United States flags that have finished serving their duty and they will be properly retired. Funds raised will be used for the Troop’s 100 Anniversary Alaska trip in Summer of 2016.


Troop 3 meets at Trinity Church in Ambler every Monday at 7:30.
